Family session in warm light, photographed by Seth Rusackas near Greater Sacramento.

Family sessions work best when nobody is pretending. Kids get to be kids, dogs get to be dogs, and looking natural is something you do, not something I ask for. I keep it loose and let the real moments happen.

We'll talk wardrobe and location before the day, so you show up knowing what to expect and can stop worrying about the camera. The session is built around your family, not a template.

An hour or two, usually somewhere in the foothills or around Greater Sacramento that means something to you. You walk away with a gallery that looks like this season of your life, not a studio backdrop.

Common questions

Where do you photograph family sessions?
On location across the Sierra Nevada foothills and the Greater Sacramento region, usually somewhere that means something to your family. If you're not sure where, I'll suggest spots that photograph well in the season you're booking.
What does a family session cost?
Family sessions start at $450. You'll get a straight number, not a sales call, with albums and wall art available as add-ons.
How many people can be in the session?
Core coverage is built for up to six. Extended family is welcome with a little notice so I can plan the time and the grouping. Just tell me who's coming.
What if our kids won't cooperate?
They don't have to. The best frames usually come from the chaos, not in spite of it. Kids and pets are welcome, actually encouraged, and I shoot fast enough to catch the real ones.
When do we get the gallery?
Your edited gallery arrives in two to three weeks through Pic-Time, ready to download, share, and order prints from a lab I trust.
